Toilet Training & Cribs, Oh My!

What we have in store for this weekend:

Project 1: Toilet Training Nikki

Now that there are 2 of them and I am looking at what it is going to take to get them back and forth to daycare on a daily basis (and I have compared the contents of the diapers), I have decided that I want Nikki toilet trained before Pepper starts at daycare. So, I have made the required purchases: training underwear, big girl panties, lots of stickers, some other little "trinkets", and a new water bottle. I am baking the Pumpkin Bread as we speak (carbs over candy with this one any day). I have withheld the iPad and the iPhone this week (something to keep her on the potty).

Our supplies

I have read up on the Internet about "3 day potty training" and have informed my husband that this is what we are doing this weekend, make no other plans! I also have Grandma E coming over tomorrow (for day 1) to help with Pepper support and have decided that we are eating leftovers or take-out for dinner.

I have been telling Nikki all week that we are going to say "bye bye" to her diapers, particularly this morning. She says the words, but I'm not sure that she understands . . . Hopefully, the sight of Minnie Mouse panties will convince her that she wants to do this.

The goal!

I'll keep you posted.

Project 2: Pepper's Crib

After much deliberation, Pepper got the exact same crib as Annika. We really liked the look and quality and the price is right too. Plus, we are hoping to avoid as much of the "but I wanted that one"/"hers is better than mine"/"why does she get that one?" as possible (or at least delay it as long as possible). I did get  different bedding for her though.

The crib is together; Ken picked up the mattress today; the bedding is washed and on the bed. Once Annika is out of diapers (tomorrow!) and won't need to use the changing table (which is in Pepper's room), we will try out a night with Pepper in the crib (in her own room). She has been doing really well with sleeping - I have even had a couple of 6 hour stretches and (knock on wood) I have been able to put her to bed while she is still awake (this never happened with Nikki when she was little) and she has actually gone to sleep.

Please send "happy potty" and "independent sleeping" thoughts this weekend!

Lots of love to all!
